My mom shared this recipe from Awesome Food a while ago which was taken from a video posted by Divas Can Cook. I actually made it a few weeks ago but in the process of moving, I didn’t have time to write about it.
This recipe is pretty straight forward. Bananas, strawberries and graham crackers are the only ingredients. I’m not sure how healthy graham crackers are considering the list of ingredients, but I guess they are better than regular ice cream sandwiches.
First, I sliced the bananas and placed them on 2 baking sheets (we had a tiny oven in our old place) and put them in the freezer overnight… or 2 nights if you are like me and are too lazy the next day.
I then put the bananas in our Ninja because we don’t have a food processor. Our ninja is tiny though so I had to do 3 or 4 batches to get it all chopped up. Doing this made the banana start to defrost a little and made everything a little stickier.
Next, I mixed in the strawberries.
Then, you need to line a 9×9 pan with parchment paper and press the mixture into the dish . Smooth out the top and put the pan into the freezer for 3 hours… or another day because you forgot to get graham crackers at the store.
Once you buy your graham crackers, take one cracker and break it in half so you have 2 squares. I placed one square against one corner and made marks so I knew where to cut the ice cream so they fit on the cracker. After you cut up the whole pan of ice cream, just place one section of ice cream between your 2 graham cracker halves and voila! Healthy ice cream sandwich.
To store them, I wrapped each one in plastic wrap and then put them all in a freezer bag. Since Josh hates bananas, I’m going to be eating these for a while. They actually taste pretty good too. I was pleasantly surprised. The crackers are soft just like with a real ice cream sandwich. I wouldn’t mind making these again.
So let me first start off with showing you the picture that came along with this post.
This is a bag of lies. The ingredients listed for these are:
3 Mashed Bananas (ripe)
1/3 c Applesauce
2 c oats
1/4 c Almond Milk
1/2 c Raisins or dark chocolate chips ( I would use the chips smile emoticon
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Cinnamon
Any recipe that involves 2 cups of oats is not going to turn out like the picture above. There is not one oat in those cookies. Once again, bag of lies.
So I gathered all my ingredients. I used raisins because I was not willing to risk wasting that many chocolate chips.
I didn’t take any pictures mixing it together because there was nothing special happening there. I just mashed the bananas and mixed everything else in. I have small baking sheets because I have a tiny oven so I only put 8 cookies on a sheet. These don’t expand at all so I probably could have fit more but there was absolutely no direction on this post so I wasn’t sure.
Here is what they looked like after baking.
I definitely wouldn’t consider these to be cookies. The consistency was like oatmeal that did not have enough water. Well, it was like mixing bananas and oats and baking it. Which is exactly what it was. They didn’t taste bad but they are not a substitute for real cookies.I would recommend eating them pretty quickly because they are kind of slimy due to the banana and all that moisture will just lead to mold. This is another recipe I won’t be making again.
According to this Weqyoua.net quiz, “Normal people will 4 or less correct on average.” Based on their grammar alone, I’m going to have to question their credibility on this.
My mother took this quiz and scored a 10 but I had pretty low expectations for myself, especially when the first question for me was about potatoes in Peru. Going back to this site, I found that the questions are the same but they put them in a different order every time. My choices are below, so if you want to see how you do, take the quiz before you keep reading.
Let’s get started!
I randomly guessed this one. How the damn hell would anyone really know this? I can’t believe my mother actually got this correct.
In my defense, I thought this was some sort of trick question. They went out of their way to say British chef and I was second guessing myself and just chose something other than my initial choice of tablespoon.
I did not actually know this answer for a fact but it was similar so I went with it.
Easy one. BOOM
I knew that maize was corn and so was polenta so this was an obvious choice for me.
This one was also an obvious choice for me… because I am a genius.
Thanks to my parents knowing a bunch of French, I already knew the answer.
I’m a fan of Shirley Temple drinks so this one I knew too.
Another easy one.
I enjoyed this question.
So let’s see the results…
Would you look at that? I am apparently a chef. Suck it quiz. Which ones did I get wrong? The first 2. I am very disappointed in myself for question 2.
Go take this quiz and let me know how well you did. Feel free to go waste some more time by checking out my Instagram @yourmomsposts.
This recipe from Tasty had 3 ingredients- ice cream, self rising flour, and sprinkles. Yet somehow, this one was the biggest pain in the ass to make. Probably because I am impatient and waiting for ice cream to melt is annoying. I also, added too much flour at first and had to go melt more ice cream to make it easier to mix.
This smelled amazing when I took it out of the oven and Josh and I were super excited to try it. Enter the disappointment. All it tasted like was sweet bread. Maybe this was because I just used vanilla ice cream but that’s what they used in the video. If I decide to try this again, I’ll try a different flavor and report back. I really don’t know what else to do with the rest of the self rising flour.
